PREVIOUS CREATIONS

Each year, my work grows and evolves into something bigger, more interesting, and better. As an artist, there is no greater pleasure for me than finding genuine growth and improvement in my projects. As I have grown and matured, so has my art. Below are some of the pieces I previously created.

ARTIST BIO

Kara Crowley

Kara’s goal as an artist is to embrace black culture through social issues and positive representation through her own artistic interpretations. During her time with YAYA (Young Aspirations/Young Artists) as a teen and my studies at Xavier University of Louisiana molded Kara into the artist she is today. YAYA’s mentorship program (11 years) inspired her to become an arts educator as well. She’s currently teaching Visual Art at St. Katharine Drexel Prep, which is an historically black school for girls in 8-12 grade. Last year, she curated her students’ work in a show entitled “For Us, By Us: From the Perspective of Young Women.” This show was exhibited at the YAYA Arts Center to connect my students with a broader arts community. She also continue looking for ways to nurture her own artistic practice such as participating in Creative Capital’s strategic planning workshop, co-hosted by Joan Mitchell Center and the Ana & Adeline Foundation (also incorporated through YAYA). But her main passion is working in the studio and her artistic discipline is creating portrait paintings. She mostly use radiant warm colors and cool undertones to capture the essence of the subject matter. While also using textured mediums, such as molding paste or dried acrylic from my painting palette, She loves embracing the realistic qualities and depth within her pieces. She tends to create paintings between the size of 24 x 36 in to 45 x 60 in. in order for her audience to build a connection and closely analyze everything used within her pieces. by Art by Kara Crowley is currently being exhibited in a variety of galleries. Commission pieces, public speeches, and art classes are also available.
